Almost two years ago a seed was planted in hopes that it would grow into something beautiful; not in the visual sense, but in an enlightening and familial way. As the brainchild of slave Que BlueFrost and servant Kimi DeRou (from the House of Blue and House of La Maison deRou respectively) the Leather Houses of Color Coalition (LHOCC) was developed to give People of Color (POCs) and the Heads of Household that lead them, a place where they could talk to and learn from people that look like them, about the experiences common to their existence. As 2017 came to a close, so did the first year of LHOCC’s history. Through the efforts of all those involved, the seedling continues to grow.

During 2017, Mister Blue, Seykou Nia, Choc Trei, Mason DeRou and their respective charges nurtured and grew this budding organization out of love and the very real need to show how POCs, regardless of gender and orientation, live and express Leather as a life choice. By drawing upon personal lessons, as well as lessons learned from elders and mentors that came before them, they worked on establishing a foundation for POCs that can and will be built upon for years to come.

As a registered 501c3, LHOCC has quietly assisted many in the community in a show of solidarity and support. As a part of its purpose, members of LHOCC did a great deal of traveling around the United States presenting to, and supporting, their peers in the Kink and Leather communities. By using the various platforms several of the members possess as title holders e.g., Little Miss Little, regional and state Master/slave representatives (Northeastern US and Colorado), as well as serving as board members for other groups such as the Leather Leadership Conference (LLC), National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF), ONYX Pearls Southeast, the Master-Dominant Consortium (MDC), and Seasoned All-In Switches (SASS), LHOCC members were able to serve their peers abundantly in real time.

2018 promises to be full of opportunities for LHOCC to continue with its mission of, “To serve as an example of unity and purpose among current and aspiring Leather Houses of Color, and to provide educational, professional, and social opportunities for those choosing to follow such lifestyles.” LHOCC looks forward to working with those interested in serving today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Thank you to all that have supported us. Your time, effort and energy are greatly appreciated as we continue to grow…
